Your Home's First Impression

At an open house, buyers will carefully size up a home. Here are a few details to pay particular attention to when prepping for an open house...

The Front Door
The entrance to your home can set the tone for what potential buyers might see inside. What kind of shape is the door in? Is the paint faded, chipped, or just plain dirty? Look up! Are there cobwebs covering the light fixture? Having a new coat of paint or everything just refreshed can tell the buyer the inside of the home is just as nice!

"Invisible Areas"
Take a look in your cabinets and closets, especially under the sinks. Is everything neat and tidy? In particular, look for any plumbing leaks, or even stains from a previous leak. That leak may have been repaired, but making sure water stains are gone will alleviate potential concerns about plumbing issues.

Windows
If your home is on the older side, the windows might be a bit sticky when opening or closing. A little window maintenance might help. And there's nothing like the sparkle of a shiny clean window.
